Suicide Prevention Training

Crisis Center staff and volunteers are certified to provide QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Training: Question, Persuade & Refer. The QPR program teaches three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide. Just like CPR, the training prepares you to respond to someone in crisis and save a life.

There is a 1 hour or 2 hour format, depending on you or your group’s needs and availability. No prior knowledge or background in mental health is necessary in order to be trained. For more information about the gatekeeper training process, visit the QPR Institute’s website.

QPR training is excellent for teachers, supervisors, students, parents, medical professionals or anyone interested in learning tools that can help prevent suicide.

The Crisis Center conducts QPR training free of charge. The only cost to you is the QPR guidebook, which must be purchased for each participant at a cost of $2.50 per book.

If you are interested QPR for yourself or a group, please contact Keri Neblett via email at keri.neblett@jccrisiscenter.org or by phone at (319) 351-2726 ext. 114.
