International Survivors of Suicide Day
Saturday, November 17 from 9:45am to 2:45pm
You are invited our local site for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's 14th Annual International Survivors of Suicide Day on Saturday, November 17 from 9:45 am - 2:45 pm at the Coralville Public Library, Meeting Room B, 401 5th Street. You will learn about managing complicating grief, coping with the holidays while gaining comfort by knowing that you are not alone.
Every year, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) airs a broadcast for Suicide Survivors that is watched at the same time around the world. In addition to our featured speaker, Vicki Lensing, from Lensing Funeral and Cremation Services, we will air the AFSP broadcast and then allow time to share thoughts and discuss the program with others afterwards.
Thousands of survivors of suicide loss will gather together around the world on this day for mutual support and practical guidance on coping with grief. If you have lost someone to suicide, please join us for this free event. Lunch will be provided. Free parking is available in the underground parking garage.
Walk-ins are welcome, but pre-registering will help us greatly in our planning. To register for this event go to www.suicidesurvivor.eventbrite.com. If you would like more information or have questions, contact Keri Neblett at keri.neblett@jccrisiscenter.org or (319) 351-2726 ext. 114.
