Court-Mandated Community Service Opportunities
The Crisis Center is able to facilitate court-mandated community service in our Food Bank program. It works best if you have at least 90 days in which to complete your hours. As a human services agency, we are not able to accommodate individuals with a conviction(s) of violent crime and/or sexual offense.

To be considered, you must submit a Community Service Volunteer Application, which can be faxed to (319) 351-5671 or mailed to:

After your application has been received, you will be asked to schedule an interview with a staff member. If your application is accepted, you must complete a 4-hour Food Bank basic training program before service hours can be scheduled. Trainings are typically held in February, June, September and December.
Fulfilling Your Service Commitment
You will be expected to work a minimum of 3 hours per shift at least once a week, on weekdays between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. Tasks for community service volunteers generally include food sorting and restocking, bag packing, bulk food repackaging, and warehouse maintenance activities.
