Thanksgiving in July 2012 was an AMAZING success!
With the help of individuals, churches, organizations and local businesses, The Crisis Center did more than reach it's goal of 40,000 pounds of donations during the 2012 Thanksgiving in July community-wide food drive. We exceeded it!
It is a wonderful feeling for everyone involved in our Food Bank program - our staff, more than 200 volunteers, and the thousands of families served each month - to know how deeply our community supports this effort to help those who are experiencing food insecurity. During Thanksgiving in July 2012 we saw all kinds of creativity, countless volunteers hours, a lot of heavy lifting and most importantly, a bounty of generosity that is simply inspirational.
Many thanks to University of Iowa Health Care, Mercy Hospital and US Foods Iowa Division for their continued sponsorship of this annual food drive. Our local grocers provided tremendous support including HyVee Waterfront, HyVee First Avenue, HyVee North Dodge, Fareway Eastside, Fareway Westside, and both locations of the New Pioneer Co-op. Pagliai's Pizza and Devotay held benefits with proceeds benefiting Thanksgiving in July.
